Buxton Trout & Salmon Farm
A visit to Buxton Trout and Salmon Farm is a great fun day out for the whole family. Young kids through to the grandparents can all be thrilled by hooking onto one of the Rainbow Trout or Atlantic Salmon in our picturesque natural bush setting. While you're here why not sample our famous Mountain Ash Smoked Trout, have a BBQ with the kids, or just feed the fish and relax.
Opening Hours:
Mon - Sun: 9:00 am - 5:00 pm
Review:
The farm is set in an open, pleasant grassy area with a number of ponds of different shapes and sizes and the whole area is fringed with gum trees. Each pond is clearly marked with the type of fish and the price per kg (which varies depending on the type of fish). For example, there is a pond for Atlantic Salmon and a different pond for Rainbow Trout. If you are willing to go big, there is a Challenge pond with rainbow trout weighing 0.5 - 3kg each. The rule at all fish farms is always that you must keep any fish that you catch. There is some degree of skill, luck or patience involved in order to catch the fish - they are not going to jump onto your hook. This is good because it makes the whole process of catching a fish so much more rewarding.
There is a big undercover area with tables and BBQs where you can cook your fish. The staff will clean the fish for you though.
