Bright Water Play Park
The Bright Water Play Park is located in Centenary Park near the intersection of the Ovens River and Morses Creek.
The water play park replaced the old toddler pool and the interactive, natural themed splash park is centred on the region's mining heritage.
The water park has textured concrete steps that lead to the river's edge and a series of graduated splash pads, each designed to suit different age groups from toddlers through to teenagers.
The splash pad has a range of randomly sequenced ground sprays, pole features, duelling water cannons, a water mushroom and giant, mining-inspired dumper bucket.
Everything but the dumper bucket runs at random intervals, while the bucket slowly fills to capacity. Visitors watch and wait with anticipation of the impending dump which is indicated through the use of three rows of small holes drilled in the side of the bucket. As the water level rises, it trickles out the holes, while kids watch in excitement as the first row leaks, then the second, then the third before dumping a massive, drenching cascade of water over the delighted recipients.
Thankfully smaller kids won't get drowned by the tipping bucket since it is located at the top level and the toddler area is lower down.
Small buttons on green poles are used to turn on the water features.
It is necessary to keep an eye on the kids since it is close to the wide, shallow Morses Creek and the deeper Ovens River which is only suitable for capable swimmers. There is a water slide entering the Ovens River.
There are toilets, picnic tables, seats, water tap, BBQ and grassy areas around the water park.
