Boroondara Park Dog Off Leash Area (Canterbury)
Busy Canterbury Road runs along the north side of the park and in the central part is an excellent large fenced playground dotted with a few large trees. On the south side of the playground is a shared use path, the Anniversary Trail, which is busy with cyclists. There are warning signs for the cyclists to slow down in this area but we noticed an uneasy relationship between cyclists and dog owners with some dogs thinking the cyclists were the local postman and chasing after them while barking furiously.
At the southern end of Beaumont Street there is a grassy sloping triangle bordered by a quiet road and a bike path where dog owners seemed to congregate. There is a bin in this area also. Generally most of the park was quite close to bike paths and is therefore most suitable only if your dog will willingly stay clear of these paths.
