Bonbeach Life Saving Club

Bonbeach Life Saving Club is a friendly, family orientated Club and encourages young children of school age to enjoy a healthy active lifestyle and learn life skills to become lifesavers. Our youth play an important role in volunteering to keep our beach safe to all that visit.

The Club was formed in 1932 and the Club continues to have a strong membership and a wonderful family of past members who still contribute to the Club today. Bonbeach Life Saving Club has had many National, State and Regional champions throughout it's history.

Bonbeach Life Saving Club is proud to provide voluntary patrols in the summer months at Bonbeach Beach. We have many training opportunities during the season for members to gain invaluable skills during patrol, as well as fitness training, including on the beach, boards, skis and swimming.

Bonbeach provides qualified volunteer beach patrols on Saturday, Sunday and Public Holidays from mid-November to the end of March each season. Volunteer beach patrols consist of at least four members with a range of skills and qualifications in beach management, water safety, aquatic rescue, water craft, radio, search and rescue and resuscitation. Each patrol session duration is between 4 and 6 hours with a 30 minutes of set up and briefing beforehand.

Nippers is a great way for children to make friends, be active and enjoy the beach in a safe environment. Life Saving Clubs are a wonderful setting for Surf Education and Youth Development and from the age of five, kids can access our lifesaving programs. These programs develop their skills in lifesaving and day to day life whilst being able to make lots of new friends along the way.

The major program for children at Life Saving Clubs in Victoria is the Surf Education Program (5 - 13 years). This National program is structured specifically to their ages and abilities gradually teaches kids basic lifesaving skills required to be safe around an aquatic environment as well as developing their skills to compete in surf sports.
