Blenheim Reserve Playground, Blenheim Road, Newport
A very unusual and special playground which has a strong nature theme where a wonderful nature exploration area has been created. A highlight is the Forest Walk. Along this trail you'll find sculptures of birds that you are likely to come across in this part of Melbourne. The sculptures play the bird's call when their motion sensor is activated. There are sculptures of the Tawny Frogmouth, Willie Wagtail, Yellow-tailed Black Cockatoo, Superb Fairy Wren and Fan Tailed Cuckoo.
You will also find footprints of local species like the swamp wallaby and the white-faced heron in the concrete paths around the reserve.
At the front is an extensive garden with paths to walk through. It includes 'Lotus leaf' gardens, an area exploring snails in our ecosystem, dry creek bed, woodland area and a water table/dish with cute birds sitting on the edge as water flows over the edge.
A large shaded sandpit has two diggers, sand play equipment and big balls to hop across.
Next door are three in-ground trampolines and birds nest swing. Across the path is a tall tower with climbing walls, internal steps leading up to a tunnel and spiral slide. On the walls of the tower is a 'Tell the Time', 'Find Your Way Home' and steering wheel panels.
An artificial hollow log with fungi and creatures and three beautiful gumnut seats. Scattered about are lots of logs and rocks.
In a big grassy area are tables and seats. The central shelter has three suspended seats, three water fountains to provide a relaxing symphony, two tables, BBQs, water tap and toilets.
