Bentleigh Lakers Basketball Club (Bentleigh East)
Bentleigh Lakers Basketball Club offers a supportive and fun basketball environment for boys and girls from under 9s to under 18s. With nearly 100 teams in our club, we are the largest of all the basketball clubs that play in the McKinnon Basketball Association competition.
We welcome all new players, regardless of age or level of experience, to join our family orientated club. With our qualified coaches, new players to basketball can quickly learn the fundamentals and experienced players can enjoy the challenge of improving within a supportive team environment.
We are a local community club, set up twenty years ago to grow and develop basketball opportunities for junior players in the Bentleigh, Valkstone, Hughesdale and McKinnon areas. The "Lakers" club is a not for profit incorporated association and is run by a volunteer committee and a team of volunteer age-group co-ordinators, coaches and team managers.
Bentleigh Lakers prides itself on a strong focus on player development across the whole club. We are fortunate to have a number of highly experienced coaches running regular age appropriate devlopment programs. We also offer tailored programs for our feeder schools McKinnon, Hughesdale and Valkstone Primary Schools and holiday programs to give all Lakers players continuing opportunities to build their skills.
We are proud to offer strong player pathways into the McKinnon representative program and at present have numerous Lakers players representing McKinnon in the Basketball Victoria competition from U12 to Big V. Many of these players started playing for Bentleigh Lakers as young as 10 years old. We also have a large number of McKinnon representative coaches within the Bentleigh Lakers domestic coaching team.
A normal season is generally 15 rounds long (excluding long weekends, school holidays & finals). Summer Season runs Terms 4 and 1. Winter Season runs Terms 2 and 3.
Age groups will be played on the following days: Boys - Saturdays, Girls - Sundays.

Training venues are:
McKinnon Primary School, Collins Street, McKinnon
Valkstone Primary School, Valkstone Road, Bentleigh East
Hughesdale Primary School, Austin St, Hughesdale.
We are part of the McKinnon Basketball Association competition. Some of the venues they use are in Bentleigh East, Brighton East, Cheltenham, McKinnon and Mordialloc.
