Beach 240 (Shoreham)

Beach 240 (Shoreham)

Between Shoreham and Flinders, the coast trends south-south-west and consists of steep, 20 to 40 m high, grassy bluffs. The bluffs are fronted by 100 m wide intertidal reef flats, with a series of narrow, sandy, high tide beaches. These four beaches, of which Beach 240 beach is one, are all backed by private farmland, and public access is by foot along the shoreline.

Beach 240 is only 400 m long, backed by bluffs and fronted by the reef flat.

The beach has wide, exposed, continuous reef flats at low tide, so bathing is best at mid to high tide.

The beach is remote and backed by private property and is only accessible from Shoreham Beach in the north, and by foot along the shore.

The beach has a General Beach Hazard Rating of 3/10 (Least hazardous)

Review:

A very inaccessible beach with lots of rocks and seaweed.
