The 1.6km short circuit is red line and the 3.6km long circuit is blue line.
Baldrys Short Circuit, 1.6km
A short but rewarding walk that takes you through eucalypt forest. Peppermint, Messmate and Manna Gum are the dominant overstorey species. Depart from Baldry Crossing Picnic area at 210 Baldrys Road, Main Ridge.
Baldrys Long Circuit, 3.6 km
This track weaves further into the forest. There are several creek crossings, and the green, moist fern gullies are a welcome contrast to the drier forest. Depart from Baldry Crossing Picnic area at 210 Baldrys Road, Main Ridge.
Keep your eyes peeled for mobs of kangaroos and listen out for the abundant bird calls you will hear on the walk. Snakes also call this area home, so please stay on the existing paths to avoid any unnecessary encounters.
This walk can be done as part of the longer 26km Two Bays Trail.
Access for Dogs:
Dogs are not permitted.
Review:
It is highly recommended to do the longer circuit because it is much more varied and interesting than the shorter circuit. The entrance for the southern part of the circuit (to do the route in a clockwise direction) is directly opposite the picnic area and runs initially beside Main Creek.
The track is quite narrow in parts with vegetation beside the path which means you need to be keeping an eye open for snakes during hot weather. The track rises and falls in parts but is not too steep at any point. Part of the route is actually part of the Two Bays Walking Trail. Keep an eye out for the right tracks to take but it is very easy since the intersections are well sign-posted. The vegetation is quite varied and includes thick gullies as well as more open bushland.
