Bacchus Marsh - Blacksmiths Cottage and Forge Bookbarn
The Blacksmith's Cottage is heritage listed and is on the National Estate list and has National Trust classification. It is the only publicly owned heritage site in Bacchus Marsh. Blacksmiths and their families have lived and worked on this site for over 100 years.
It was purchased from the Edwards family in 1974 by the Bacchus Marsh (now Moorabool) Shire. In 1979, the cottage was opened as a small cottage museum by Professor Geoffrey Blainey and is now operated by the Cottage and Forge Special Committee.
Forge Bookbarn
The Forge Bookbarn is a not for profit enterprise operating as a second hand bookshop. It is run entirely by volunteers and has been the projects main source of revenue. Come and find a bargain amongst our wide array of books ranging from best sellers to hard-to-find titles. The majority of books range in price from 50 cents to $5.
