Autumn Place Playground, Doveton
On the opposite side of a shopping strip is a sunken area with a cute playground with bronze sculptures created by artist Andrew Poppleton that were inspired by characters and scenes from the book "The Fantastic World of Autumn Place". There is a QR code on a plaque in the playground to read a children's story book which relates to Autumn Place and its inhabitants.
In the corner a rope bridge leads to a quirky jumbled structure with a cubby house, wobbly bridge traverse, rope ladder and metal tunnel slide. The playground also has a short sharp and wide metal slide, low birds nest swing, little spinning carousel and an interesting set of swings including an expression type swing where bub and carer sit opposite each other.
There is a shade sail with three tables, BBQs, toilets, unshaded seats, table tennis table and water tap.
The area around the playground is pigeon central so please don't feed the birds.
Overall the highlight of the playground is definitely the character sculptures.
