All abilities from home sewers to the experienced can learn the secrets of creating either a bespoke skirt or waistcoat and custom fitting the garment to the wearer. "Atelier Melbourne" specializes in teaching classical techniques when creating women's Couture and men's Bespoke garments, with the view of long-lasting timeless garments.
Casual Sewing Classes
Non-accredited courses for absolute beginners or those sewers that need a bit of a hand. You may just enjoy sewing along with company when sewing your next project. We have some amazing and exciting workshops as well as unstructured sewing classes where there will always be help available when you are unsure of your next sewing step.
We provide informal sewing classes that can be booked for your preferred time and day of the week. We will be available to guide you with your sewing project. We encourage clients who enjoy either or both hand-sewing and machine sewing. You may already have started a project and are stuck or you may enjoy joining our creative sewing community, come along and inspire some of us with your creativity.
Children's Sewing Classes
Sewing classes for children aged 7-13 years. 2 x 2-hour weekly sessions on Saturday mornings and afterschool.
Children are also taught some hand sewing skills such as taking up a hem, sewing on buttons, different types of hand stitches and beginning embroidery. Sewing is about creativity, and it should always be fun and enjoyable.
Embroidery Classes
Casual embroidery classes are designed for those who want to complete their embroidery projects, learn new embroidery techniques and skills and learn how to embellish garments and costume maintenance. All levels welcome and we provide basic embroidery kit.
Sewing Machine and Overlocking Classes
In this 2-hour weekly class, we learn about the various parts of the machine such as, tension dials, using 3 or 4 thread spools, double needles, cutting, stitch length, the differential feed dial and gathering with an overlocker / serger. We even show you the proper way to unpick an overlocked seam. All levels welcome.
