Ararat Gallery TAMA (Textile Art Museum Australia)
Ararat Gallery TAMA has a unique place amongst Australia's public galleries through its commitment to supporting and promoting textile and fibre art - a curatorial and collection focus that began in the early 1970s.
The Gallery presents a varied program that encompasses national touring exhibitions, aspects of the permanent collection and exhibitions by visiting textile fibre and regional artists.
The main body of the permanent collection is a wonderful selection of Fibre and Textile Art, a collection of National importance.
The Art of the Japanese Package is a remarkable sub-collection of quite rare traditional Japanese packaging.
The Lady Barbara Grimwade Costume Collection is also housed at Ararat Gallery. A collection developed during the lifetime of a woman of substance and style.
Ararat Gallery also provides an active changing exhibition program in two of its Gallery spaces.
