Apex Park Playground, Manifold Street, Camperdown
A very nice play space which has a number of play areas which are spread out. At one end a concrete path leads up a hillock to the start of metal tunnel slide. On the side of the path is a metal drum and a scrambling wall with cute orange frog handholds. At the base of the hill is a stand-on spinner, birds nest swing, four standard swings (including one with a harness) and a fun inverted U-shaped see-saw. This area has a shelter with table and unshaded BBQs.
There is a basketball court, cricket nets and some exercise equipment (sit-up bench, aerobic cycle, body twist, body pull and push-ups) at this end also.
In the middle part of the playground, next to the Camperdown Community House, is an area enclosed by a fence which has a large sandpit partly covered with shade sails with a digger and sand play tables. This fenced area also has a bike springer, little swing for toddlers, lotus leaf spinner with hand wheel and a wooden cubby with abacus. Near this is a shelter with table and a sheltered BBQ.
At the other end are two flying foxes (one with harness and one with disk seat) and a rope climbing net to resemble the mast of a ship. Beware of the crocodile lolling about below (especially if your name is Peter Pan). Around the net are logs and rocks plus a distorting mirror. Two unshaded tables are in this area which is encircled by paths.
There are toilets, water tap, fairly limited grassy area, bocce court (BYO balls), a lovely "Birds of the Plains" painting on the side of the toilets and animal and bird tracks embedded into the paths.
The spread-out nature of the playground and the close proximity to the busy highway means you need to be vigilant.
