Acheron Cutting Lookouts

Acheron Cutting Lookout (upper and lower) are roadside lookouts located on the Maroondah Highway, 7.2 km (6 minutes drive) from Alexandra and 11 km from Taggerty (8 minutes drive).

The upper lookout view is obscured by trees and no longer popular. The lower lookout has now taken its place and has become our district's most used scenic lookout. The view extends over the Goulburn River Valley to the east and beyond up the Thornton Valley towards Eildon. The view changes with the seasons and is highly photographic all year. The view has a beautiful feature tree.

Directions
FROM ALEXANDRA

1. Travel west on the Maroondah Highway towards Healesville.
2. Travel 7.2 km to the lookout on the left.
3. Park carefully in the gravel carpark area.

FROM TAGGERTY
1. Travel north on the Maroondah Highway.
2. Travel for 11 km to the lookout on the right.
3. Park carefully in the gravel carpark area.
