A. H Capp Reserve Playground, Halwyn Crescent, Preston
A long playground located between two ovals with a high fence to protect against a Bradmanesque six to mid off.
A huge wooden tower with an equally huge climbing wall leads to a big tunnel slides. Kids who can't own the climbing wall and use either a pipe ladder or a rope ladder to reach the start of the tunnel slide. The tower connects to a lower area closer to terra firma (where there is more of the firmer and less of the terror) which has a rope climbing frame, monkey bars, disk traverse, ladder with square rungs, curved slide, fireman's pole and steps.
Next to this area is a basketball half court, wooden "shelter" (not sure exactly how this works), area of rocks and logs, standard swings and birds nest swing. At one end there is an interesting multi-leg pipe climbing frame and a spinning carousel where you can sit on colourful flower seats or stand beside them (which might be a safer option for younger kids).
Next to an outdoor gym and there is a dog off-lead area on both sides. There are a number of seats along the length of the playground, unshaded table and water tap. The playground is beside the Merri Creek Trail. The playground was upgraded in 2016.
